From the production budget to tracking each cost

A budget changes as production moves forward. Abby connects budget lines with purchasing and invoice tracking so production and accounting can distinguish planned costs, recorded commitments and actual amounts within each project.

A budget organised by lines and versions

Organise the production budget by chapters and lines. Work with versions to review how the document has developed, and check amounts within their structure, from the overall picture to the detail each department needs.

Abby is intended for film, series, documentary and commercial production companies that need to follow the project beyond the initial estimate. Production management and accounting can work with related information, using separate permissions to view, edit and review.

  • Budgets organised by chapters and lines.
  • Versions to review budget development.
  • Separate tracking of planned, committed and actual costs.

Follow purchase orders and invoices through the process

A prepared purchase order is not yet a payment. Abby distinguishes purchasing stages: preparing and approving an order, recording its issue and receipt, receiving the invoice and confirming it before payments can be recorded. Each status adds context to cost tracking.

Accounting records payments manually with their date and reference. Abby does not execute transfers or connect to banks to make payments. It retains the information entered so the team can see what needs review and continue working with budget, order and invoice exports.

Keep personnel costs alongside the project

Crew planning and financial preparation belong to the same project. Personnel costs can be linked to budget lines and reviewed against approved preparation, without treating an estimate as a confirmed amount.

For productions in the Canary Islands and across Spain, this brings people, purchasing and budget context together. Amounts and decisions require review by the responsible team: Abby prepares information for external employment advisers without automatically calculating payroll or filing with Spain's Sistema RED.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between planned, committed and actual costs?

They are separate views of cost tracking: what you plan, the commitments recorded and the actual amounts entered in the project. Keeping them separate helps review the budget without treating every amount as a completed payment.

Does Abby replace external advisers or pay suppliers?

No. Abby organises budgets, purchasing and information preparation. External advisers retain their professional role, and payments are manually recorded after being managed outside the application.

Can I explore budgeting before requesting access?

Yes. The demo requires no signup and includes a fictional project with budgeting and accounting areas. Explore the structure and guided activities without entering real information about your production company.
